Pentecostal pastor Nikolai Romaniuk pretrial detention is extended in Moscow
The daughter of Nikolai Romaniuk announced that a Moscow court extended the pretrial detention of her father, Pastor Romaniuk, until April 17, 2025.
On October 19, 2024, Nikolai Nikolayevits Romaniuk, pastor of the Evangelical Church of the Holy Trinity in Moscow, was arrested after a Sunday service.
The arrest was accompanied by a thorough search of the house, which was carried out in a very uncivil manner. Pastor Romaniuk is accused of collaborating with Western intelligence services.
Fabricated Accusations
The accusations are fabricated and belong to the traditional FSB (Russia’s Federal Security Service) workings and lies. The pastor's entire family has experienced great psychological trauma in connection with the arrest. Such searches and arrests in present-day Russia are unfortunately predictable and to be expected.
Heavy-Handed House Search
During the home searches, hooded Russian secret police special forces entered the home with loaded Kalashnikovs. The family's children were forced to lie face down on the floor, with their hands behind their heads, for six hours.
Refusal to Support the War
The most prevalent accusation against Pastor Nikolai Romaniuk is that he expressed his disagreement with the brutal war that the Russian Federation is waging in Ukrainian territory.
Honest and law-abiding citizens in Russia are suffering and will continue to suffer — whose lives line up with the truth of the Bible and Christian worldview, and even those with a sense of justice.
A fellow pastor stated: “I have known Nikolai Romaniuk since our early youth, and his family well, including his father, Nikolai Vasilyevich, from the Ternopil region of Ukraine.
Soviet Style Persecution Makes a Comeback
During the years of Soviet persecution and oppression, Nikolai’s father was a pastor of the Pentecostal Church in Moscow and suffered greatly for his faith. He was sent to a prison camp in Siberia for 18 years.
Nikolai's older brother Vasily, also a pastor, died in a Moscow hospital under very mysterious circumstances from an unknown illness. In 2012, the Romaniuk brothers’ church building, where they pastored, was demolished by bulldozers one night. The Kremlin regime continues its lawlessness and one question remains:
God, how long will this continue?!
Please pray for our brother as we await the fate of our Christian brother.
Brotherly regards, VF
