At the beginning of the year, we received a heartfelt invitation from Addis Ababa, the capital of Ethiopia to come together in a spirit of prayer to discuss having a Mega City Campaign with the leaders of “Mekane Yesus” church.

The Evangelical Lutheran Mekane Yesus Church already has 15 million members. By God's grace, the church will soon celebrate its 70th anniversary, and the secret of its success lies in its solid proclamation of the Gospel and its faithfulness to the written word of God.

The Mekane Yesus Church is the largest Lutheran church in the world, and its strength stems from a spiritual awakening and the leadership's uncompromising commitment to the Gospel of Christ. The Church sees its mission in the light of Jesus' commission to preach the good news of the Gospel to all people.

A media campaign is a way to accomplish this, as church leadership is concerned about losing the next generation.

Ethiopia is the second most populous country in Africa, home to 133 million people who need the message of the Gospel and the touch of God’s love. The discussions for this significant campaign were held jointly in mid-February in Addis Ababa, in a spirit of unity and prayer. We believe and pray that the Lord will richly bless this project, with a goal to see 4 million people find Christ as their personal Savior. This media campaign is scheduled to commence during the year 2026, with the grace and guidance of God. Laying the groundwork for this outreach would begin as early as this summer.
