Tanzania Campaign Updates

Tanzania Location

DAR ES SALAAM, TANZANIA

Population: 5,115,670

Campaign Launched: October 2019

ABOUT THIS CAMPAIGN

Radical Islamic groups in Tanzania threaten Christians daily. Throughout the country, there are waves of attacks against Christians and their property that has resulted in lost lives. Our goal is to saturate this city with the Gospel for 30 days using billboards, tv spots, radio spots, flyers, newspapers and more. Each dollar is MAXIMIZED to present the campaign message of “Calling our call center” to get a free Power to Change booklet – complete with life transformation stories and an evangelistic message. Our $400,000 budget is an incredibly low cost for saturating some of the major cities of Tanzania for 30 days.

PRAYER REQUESTS

  • Church unity continues after the outreach.
  • God to speak to the hearts of people in the city who heard the gospel message.

NOTES FROM THE MISSION FIELD

DAY 30: MEDIA CAMPAIGN FINISHED!

The Lord blessed. Now the follow-up and final delivery of Transformation books continue.

90,000 calls to the call center were from Muslims.

Tens of thousands of calls were received from other major cities across the nation.

Reportedly between 7 and 9 million people were reached by the campaign in November 2019.

DAY 15: AVALANCHE OF RESPONSE

4,5000 calls in one hour !
Over 79,000 calls received already !!
30 phones rigning continuously
30,000 books to hand out reported as NOT enough…100,000 needed !

DAY 3: THOUSANDS OF CALLS LOGGED

I just came back from Dar Es Salaam where the megacity media campaign launched three days ago. We have already logged thousands of calls and orders for the Power to Change book, in Swahili, including the road map to a new life in Jesus. Almost 2,000 churches have signed up, so to speak. Over 1,000 young volunteers between 18-25 have been trained to man the call center and serve in the book delivery system.

Secular radio is playing a huge role in the number of incoming calls. Radio is a giant size media in East Africa. Calls are pouring in from all over Tanzania including Islamic Zanzibar. This is regardless of the fact that we are specifically targeting Dar Es Salaam. Such is the power of media.

DAY 1: AN UNPRECEDENTED BEGINNING

Day one at the call center - I witnessed something I had not seen before in any city. As I sat in the call center management room or “war room” as we sometimes say, the sudden sound of a fire alarm filled the hallway of the single-story ministry center. The sound was like one massive, unending fire alarm, a loud and continuous ring – nonstop! You would think there was a fire!

I ran out of the management room into the main call center to see what was going on. There was no fire. All 30 phones were ringing at the same time. I froze and beheld the spectacle in awe. It was a beautiful sight. Thousands of calls were coming in from cities near and far! The volunteer staff rejoiced as they unceasingly took call after call… “

Our office manager Daniel told me as I was preparing to leave for home: “Hannu the 30,000 books are not enough, not even nearly enough, 100,000 books would not be enough!” I told Daniel: “We need to pray that the funds will be found to order those numbers of books!”

We thank the Lord for each and every partner for your prayers and donations that have made this historic mission possible!

I will keep everyone updated.

Have a very blessed day,
Hannu
